Giving Birth in a 2000 Hyundai Elantra
When it’s time to give birth a woman would like to be either at the hospital or home with a midwife handy. One place you probably DO NOT want to be as a your child coming out is in the back of a 2000 Hyundai Elantra. That’s exactly where Sarah Olcott from Winona, MN was when it was time for her baby to come.
Sarah and her husband Gooch (Yes…Gooch) figured there was enough time; the hospital was just five minutes away. “I had no idea she was going to come out as fast as she did,” says Sarah about the baby. “I never thought I’d have her in the car.” Little Jocelyn Anne Olcott was born as healthy and happy just after 5 am. Several nicknames were offered up for the kid, including ‘Floormat’, “that’s what the E.R. staff was calling her,” said Sarah.
The Olcott’s 2000 Hyundai Elantra is taking on cult-like status around town. “So was this it?” asks a visitor from the family’s church. “Yeah,” replies Gooch, “That’s the celebrity.”
