Hyundai Veloster Producing 5-Door

Hyundai has announced they will produce a 5-Door variant of their soon to be released Veloster hatchback. The vehicle, which is apparently still coming to America in 2012, has been in concept mode since 2009. Hyundai’s Manager of Overseas Product Planning, Eunjoo Shin, explained the company is in fact developing a Veloster with “traditional five-door body style.”

This departure may be a way for Hyundai to make their upcoming vehicle a bit more “normal” for your average customer. Currently, the auto has two regular sized doors, a third smaller passenger side door, and a hatchback. We’ll see how sales do once the car goes on sale next year.

Hyundai’s Secret 2011 Plan Leaked!

Every car company, much like a professional sports team, needs a solid game plan to cement their ideas into production for the next couple of years. The last thing you want is that plan getting out – or at least you want people to think it’s bad the plan is leaked – maybe you wanted it shown to the world all along! Hyundai may be playing a little of the Spy Who Loved Me when it comes to fooling us all – as plans for their 2011 line up, including new MPV’s and coupes, came online over the weekend.

Honestly, the “leaked plan” seems like quite the way to go – closer to the end of 2010 Hyundai plans on releasing two MPV vehicles, the i20 and i30 – as part of the auto maker’s alternative fuel (electric mostly) vehicle line up.

In 2011, Hyundai will launch a new i40 which is expected to be based on the Genus Concept. Aimed at the Volkswagen Passat and Opel Insignia, the i40 will be offered in both sedan and wagon form with a long list of fuel efficient engines. Finally, Hyundai’s sexy Veloster Concept will also head for production with a Mini Clubman-like four door arraignment (one on driver’s side, two on the passenger’s side, and one rear hatch). Engine options are expected to include a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 140 hp as well as a slightly larger 2.0-liter with 172 hp (Source: WorldCarFans)
